Shu grew up in Guiyang, China, and attended Anglo-Chinese Junior College in Singapore under SM1 full scholarship which allowed her to pursue Theater and Drama Studies. She is a recent graduate from Wesleyan University Class of 2022 with a Film Studies major. During her time at college, she was actively involved in the film community. She has served as the president of Cardinal Pictures, Wesleyan's biggest film production organization, and received Nancy Kathan Award for a female senior film major who exemplifies overall outstanding qualities. Her latest short, So Long/The Womb, My Home, is selected and screened at multiple local and international film festivals, including New York Shorts International Film Festival, Paris Independent Film Festival, and Shanghai International Short Week. Recently she moved from New York City back to Singapore as she starts her next chapter of adventures in filmmaking.

She has worked on over a dozen short and feature films where she found her passion in cinematography and producing. Her interests also expand to photography, theater and dance where she constantly seeks connections to different art forms. Coming from a multilingual and multicultural background, she appreciates different cultures and people and finds beauty and inspiration from global cinema.
